１　Mother Goose/Nursery Rhymes

英語が出来ないのは、お母さんに膝の上で英語の絵本を読んで貰った経験が無いからかも知れないと思い、欧米の子供たちの絵本を見ているうちに、豊かな言葉の世界にぶつかった。そして愛すべき挿絵に惹かれていった。
　一口に言って、マザーグースのんなところが面白い。

マザーグースはNursery rhymes(英国伝承童謡）のアメリカや日本での愛称ですが、古い版本も、新刊本も高く、私の手元に入ったのは、そのいずれにも属さない、中途半端な年代のものです。大半は若いお母さんが簡単に買えそうな安い本ですが、それだけに、生きたマザーグースという感じがします。写真はに右あります。
Opieのコレクションの復刻版は日本でも出版されていますので、それによって古い時代を偲ぶことも可能です。
