エッセイ「柳の木」拝読。実はブルーグラスに下掲の名曲がありまして改めてその出典を理解、眼から鱗の落ちる思いです。この歌はブルーグラスの前身のサザン・オールドマウンテンと言われるジャンルから始っており1930年代にCater Familyが取り上げてブルーグラスと言うかカントリーのスタンダードとも言うべき位置付けの名曲です。この曲想がシェークスピアに迄溯るとは。自らの無知を恥じるばかり、ブルーグラスの起源に又ひとつ興味が深まりました。ありがとうございました。余間様は「平凡なありきたりの話」と書かれていますが如何にも凡庸な失恋の話である処にこの曲の値打ちがあろうかと思料する次第です。
